CUTE

Last Sunday we had a 10/04 outing again... I remember there was once when we had a 10/04 guys outing followed by a whole class outing, this time was like a repeat of that trend haha.

This time was to celebrate Jeremy and Fiona's birthdays... we went to Mind Cafe (Clarke Quay this time) and made a great deal of noise and fun.

The problem about outings involving that amount of people was that it was hard to decide where to have dinner. In the end we went to Manhattan Fish Market at Central (apparently all of us were having this "gotta have seafood" drive as we regretfully bypassed several seafood restaurants on the way). The stuff there was good! Most of us had seafood platter while Kaicheng and I had this bolied fish with garden herbs dish which got me wanting more.

Long time no see!

I was having this online chat with Wenjun and Kelvin, and since the title's got to append their nicknames together. Wenjun was, well, "cute in such an ugly way" (for some reason...?) and Kelvin was, erm, himself.

"Kelvin, cute in such an ugly way"

I'm not quite sure about that "cute" part though... *dodges punch*

I happened to browse through the Jdorama.com forums and decided to check out whatever awards for Japanese dramas they have in Japan. I was very pleased with

Cheers to "HanaKimi" for clinching the award! I see familiar names among the actors like Horikita, Fujiki Naohito, Ikuta Toma (kudos for bringing Shuuichi to life!), Aragaki Yui...

I was quite surprised to see "Papa To Musume No Nanokakan" (Dad and Daughter's 7 Days) landing the "Best Script" though. Not that the show was not good... I actually just finished watching it (Gakki!!!) and enjoyed it, but the storyline isn't what I'd call "very original". Got to note that it was adapted from a book, though.

Ikuta Toma played the role of Nakatsu Shuuichi (or what you Chinese-speaking people call "Xiu-yi") in HanaKimi, so most of us here pretty much knew what that role was all about. He got me so rooting for Shuuichi near the end of the show when the 2 guys were vying for Mizuki's (your "Rui-Xi") heart. I'll look out for his future shows.

Besides looking out for awards, I also went to the discussion threads for some of my favourite artistes. My findings shouldn't surprise you.

Erm... Erika "Propaganda" Toda?

Man... the handwritten note was just some "Take me overseas" kind of request. But the photo's totally... !!!

I got wind of some news about Gakki's new songs... after hearing her voice (which was kind of pleasant-sounding) in so many dramas I reckoned that she'd be asked to sing someday.

The voice is there, but a little more training will do.

Gakki. Nice angle.

Have I "remember"... ?

This week passed by just like that, as usual. Except that slightly upsetting episode called "Fail Basic Theory".

Today after Cell we went to Simei for dinner. Chris brought us to this restaurant called 18 Chefs, whose chef once studied under Jamie Oliver.

I heard the signature dish there was supposed to be Cheese Baked Rice, but since i just had baked rice yesterday at Vivo, I decided to have Aglio Olio pasta instead. Not bad at all!

Here's to Jon.

During my birthday period he ventured into fruit tarts, so he baked a giant fruit tart and brought it to office, except I was on leave :P. His first effort was... applaudable.

Too soft. Awwww...

After some advice from Mdm (who's had far more baking experience), the 2nd try (I was in office to try it this time!) turned out...

Picture tells 1000 words.

Maybe that's why people go into photography.

Jon's got this online album http://www.flickr.com/photos/jonsoon and after viewing some of the photos he's taken, I was quite impressed with

Remember my NDP post where I tried to capture the Tactical Movement demo? This one's taken by Jon.

Probably because of the angle.

Now for my feeble efforts at photography...

On the bus to Cell I got this view of this tree on a traffic island and I really liked it for some reason.

A trip to Daiso has never left me empty-handed. I've just got to buy something!

Matsuri!

Dad's soup on Sundays is one of the things that add a bit of unpredictability to life. This week it's Pig Stomach soup (my personal favourite). On top of that, clams!

Double Digit Fighter

Strange. Ever since I got my broadband I've been doing all sorts of things online, except blogging.

Anyway, I'm back.

The S-pop mood had been long over... after doing their songs and welcoming my understudy (his name's Chris!) and becoming DDF (<=99 days to ORD) and getting my new I-pod... and watching HanaKimi, wow I'm getting out of touch with music again.

"New I-pod?"

OK not really. I mean out of touch with playing music.

I really enjoyed the whole process of arranging songs for Haoran and Edmund... it was fun and they're co-operative and all. And it gives me great sense of accomplishment!

I'm really elated that they've decided to go on with the AHS Harmoc Orchestra Alumni performance. I'ts one of the things I've been anticipating this year! And before this there was totally no news at all, I almost thought they scraped the idea. Thank God they didn't.

I got the latest FIR album (their music's worth supporting) and Ian was posing with the Roland AX-7! Haha Kelvin just got one recently so it's sort of funny seeing a celeb holding it.

The 4GB silver Nano came as a free gift for signing up for broadband. Only 8 GB is available in different colours.

The wide screen not only allows viewing of videos; it also allows a more visually appealing user interface, like Cover Flow and the album artwork display. In fact I won't be doing much video vieing - my com can't rip DVDs that well. Sometimes one entire 50-minute clip which took about an hour to rip could just go down a drain due to ome "bad public movie atom" thing.
